These superb limiting amps do exactly what they’re supposed to do, with outstanding sonics and easy to use controls. The accurate, high quality VU meter and output transformer are valuable features, but the best thing about these units is the way they sound. These models are considered must-have items by many engineers, and have increased sharply in value over the years.Many of these 20-30 year old units have never been recapped, or even tested. UREI build quality was very good but deterioration of capacitors and other parts is inevitable, and typically units that haven't been serviced are way off their original specs. Fortunately, for a relatively small investment, most 1176’s can be fully restored, and will sound like new again.Studio Electronics has serviced nearly a thousand UREI limiters over the years. Our founder worked for Bill Putnam’s UREI and United/Western studios in the 70’s, frequently servicing these models for the factory and studios. For dual units that require stereo matching, there’s a $100 additional charge.  While the majority of units that we receive can be serviced for the prices shown above, we cannot estimate costs for individual units until we actually see them.  If your unit has a faulty VU meter, optical cell or tube, needs replacement pots or switches, or has other special problems, this is an additional charge.If you like, we’ll add a set of our rugged, top quality XLR adaptor cables.  Many lengths and styles are available.The buyer of this service is responsible for shipping both ways.
